Below, please find update information for you. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Academic All-American Recognition Award Application

Since making the Academic All-American Recognition Award application an online submission, it has been a great success. In 2017, we had over 500 submissions – a record! The 2018 application process is now open. An announcement will be put into tomorrow’s member club newsletter, so if you could send a blast out to the pro members in your area, it would be greatly appreciated. Further, please link the USA Gymnastics page to your website if you have one. Here is the link: https://usagym.org/pages/men/pages/academic_allamerican.html. Note that the deadline for submission is February 15, so getting the information out to the community is time sensitive.

Accounting

We have a new employee handling the accounting for our Chairmen. Her name is Shawna Ping and she can be reached at sping@usagym.org, 317/829-0452. If you have any accounting questions or concerns, please contact her. On that note, I have attached a new State/Regional Chair Financial Activity instructions cheat sheet to refer to in case you need a reference on an accounting topic. For those states/regions that have an elected treasurer, be sure to share this document.

Branding

As we are heading into season, many of you will be planning your state/regional championships. Please be aware of the USA Gymnastics branding guidelines when designing logos, etc. Here is the link to the Branding Dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/2u34ni9vvmy90ti/AABgBwn66qCSwsJyviDLkCMOa?dl=0. Please let me know if you have any issues getting to this information. If you have specific questions or need to confirm a logo, please contact Rachel Brazo, rbrazo@usagym.org.

Event Calendar

Attached, please find a tentative 2018 event calendar. I would like to highlight some events. Please help bring awareness to these events and encourage people to attend and cheer our athletes on! Let’s not just make this the year for Men’s Program; let’s make it the quad for Men’s Program!!

USA Gymnastics Bylaw Amendments

The USA Gymnastics Board of Directors met on December 9, and approved amendments to the USA Gymnastics bylaws to strengthen safe sport provisions and complaint processing. Please visit our website to review the updated bylaws: https://usagym.org/PDFs/About%20USA%20Gymnastics/Governance/usag-bylaws.pdf. You can also read the article regarding the changes by clicking here https://usagym.org/pages/post.html?PostID=21125&prog=h.

SafeSport

The SafeSport page of our website has been updated. Visit the web page and familiarize yourself with it and link it on your website: https://usagym.org/pages/education/safesport/. If you have any SafeSport questions or concerns that you may need clarification on, feel free to email Mark Busby at mbusby@usagym.org.

Also, a new requirement to hold a professional or instructor membership is the completion of the U110 USOC SafeSport course. Encourage our membership to go online and complete this: https://usagym.org/pages/education/courses/U110/. This includes judges. Please note that there is one little hiccup in the USOC’s system. It asks for your membership number, but it does not prevent you from completing the course if you do not enter it. However, if the membership number is not entered or entered correctly, it will not get downloaded to the member’s profile with USA Gymnastics. If someone shows his or her certificate, let that person know that he or she needs to contact USA Gymnastics Member Services to have them update the membership profile manually.

On behalf of the Men’s Program and all the athletes, coaches, parents and judges, we are grateful for everything you do and all the time you volunteer for our program. We all look to your leadership and guidance and it is truly appreciated!

I wish you all a happy holiday season and look forward to working with you in 2018!!!!
