A Couple of messages compiled together below:

Hello NorCal Clubs & Coaches,

We’re just under halfway to the total number of athletes needed. More optional level and higher level compulsories girls are the biggest need.
I appreciate your assistance supporting the National Congress event!

iVolunteer link:
http://csc.ivolunteer.com/demonstrators_nationalcongress2012

—–

I hope you’ve all had successful seasons as we head into an exciting Olympic summer.
Thanks to the clubs who have gotten athlete demonstrators signed up for the National Congress in San Jose. The event is now only 8 weeks away and we need more club support from around Northern California!

If you know about the event but have not had a chance to solicit athlete volunteers from your club, visit http://csc.ivolunteer.com/demonstrators_nationalcongress2012 to get signed up.
Share the link with your parents and team staffs. If you are just now hearing about it, my original communication is below with all the details.
I’m your local contact between now and June 28th. Let me know if you have questions, or would like any assistance or support in getting involved.

Thanks again for helping USA Gymnastics & NorCal host would should be a very successful Olympic Trials and National Congress.

—-

My name is Christopher Brown and I am serving as the local volunteer coordinator for athlete demonstrators at the USA Gymnastics National Congress, taking place June 28-July 1 at the San Jose Convention Center.

USA Gymnastics has requested the support of nearly 200 competitive level girls & boys to serve as volunteer skill demonstrators for Congress presentations and “spotting subjects” for coaches certifications and hands on trainings. I’ve decided to utilize a web-based sign-up process, which I hope (1) encourages clubs to get involved, and (2) allows you to choose your level of participation. It will allow me to track progress and email updates to volunteers between now and the event.

If your club would like to participate, share the “ivolunteer” link below as part of promoting involvement with your team(s). You can ask your athletes to register themselves if you want (as appropriate for their level and availability), and make them responsible for their own transportation, drop off, and pick up. Or, your club may prefer to limit your athletes’ participation to only certain levels, days, or time slots. Technically, you or one of your coaches can even sign-up your athletes on their behalf, and also designate a single point of contact within your club. The choice is yours. I am happy to assist if you would like guidance.
To see the available volunteer slots and to sign-up, visit http://csc.ivolunteer.com/demonstrators_nationalcongress2012

Read the directions, and pay attention to the levels and requirements requested. (Coaches, you know that presenters at Congress typically prefer athletes who have mastered the skill level(s) being demonstrated. Use the tabs at the top to see the current openings each day of Congress. Upon sign-up, an email confirmation will be sent. At a later date there will be follow up information with more details about attire, etc.
A few additional thoughts:
*Slots are open on a first come, first served basis. There are a limited amount of slots and ultimately a small percentage of NorCal gymnasts can participate. It’s possible (likely?) that USA Gymnastics will make at least minor changes to presenters, skill levels required, and the number of demonstrators requested. So, additional spots may open up, AND it’s possible that volunteers will end up NOT being needed for certain sessions.
*Sign-ups can “un-volunteer” themselves through this same link.
*Parents who contact me with questions will be referred directly back to their coach(s), unless it’s regarding basic information about event location, parking, etc.
*Coaches are NOT required to attend sessions with their athletes.
*Xcel athletes may participate as long as they meet (or preferably, exceed) the skill requirements requested.
*Privacy note: the contact information requested when signing up will ONLY be used to organize and communicate updates about this event, and to allow the Congress On-site Coordinator – Jill Jarrett – the ability to reach volunteers on event day, if needed.
*There will be follow up emails with details and reminders as the event nears.

I’m your local contact between now and June 28th. Let me know if you have questions, or would like any assistance or support in getting involved.
Remember too that your club families can volunteer in support of the Olympic Trials in San Jose.

Thanks for your support! Go USA.

Regards,

Christopher Brown
Director – Operations & Marketing
California Sports Center

We are looking for the right person to lead our men’s team, currently comprised of 20 gymnasts on team levels 4 – 10 plus a “Supermen” pre-team. In addition to performing the hands-on coaching duties, the Program Director will be responsible for designing and implementing the men’s program from preschool to elite levels as well as hiring and supervising their own assistants. The owners of Davis Diamonds have a flat organization structure and believe in delegation of authority and responsibility to their program directors. The current Program Director will be available to provide a solid transition period.

This is a full time exempt position with an excellent medical benefits package including medical and dental coverage and a vision discount plan. Profit sharing is available through a gym-sponsored 401K plan.

David Diamonds Gymnastics will be moving into a new 18,000 square foot gym in 2012 that will be fully equipped for our men’s gymnastics team. The individual hired for this position will also have an opportunity to acquire ownership interest in the gym! Davis Diamonds currently has approximately 1,000 students and are looking to grow with the increased space and equipment to be available in their new facilities.

This is an excellent opportunity for the right coach for both personal and professional development. If you are a qualified candidate, please send your cover letter and resume to the Davis Diamonds HR manager at janbraun.hr@gmail.com. If you would like to speak with the current program director, please call Dan at 530-750-FLIP (3547).

Below is a consolidation of emails sent out by Heather Flores in regarding Regional Championships:

Hi Everyone,

Just a gentle reminder, under no circumstances should individual parents contact the meet hosts for L4 State Championships, L5/6 State Qualifier, or L5-10 State Championships (and even more so for Regionals!). Your club’s coach (or assigned parent club representative if that’s how your club runs) should be the single point of contact for parents to obtain information regarding these meets. Please ensure that your parents know this.

If the information needed is not in any of the emails I have sent out, the coach or his/her representative can drop me an email and I’ll get the information.

Thanks, Heather

———–

Here is the breakdown of state all star teams at Regionals. As noted in the Regional registration procedure I sent out yesterday, the alternates (one per team) also need to get uniforms.

Regional Qualifier’s Registration Instructions:
Attached you will find a summary of the things you need to know to get Regional Qualifiers registered for Regional Championships. Really important stuff is highlighted.

2012ncbga-regional-registration-procedures

————

Selection of Region 1 Teams
In keeping with a decision made by the Region 1 Board of Directors, the following process will be used to select the Level 10B, Level 10A, and Level 9 Teams that will represent us at the National Championships:

After the competition on Thursday and Friday, the top ten all-around finishers for all three groups will be invited to a Saturday morning clinic. At that time, the sizing and ordering of the uniforms will take place.

If one or more of the top six is not at the clinic, he/they will be replaced on the team with the next highest ranking gymnast/s at the clinic.

Being at that clinic insures their position on the Region 1 Select Team, and an invitation to the Region 1 Select Team Camp this summer.

If you think there is a chance that any of your gymnasts will make the team, they must be prepared to be there on Saturday morning.

Please email with any questions,
Heather

———-

ps: Judges & Coaches,

The Skill Committee has just updated the NGJA/USAG Interpretations document dated March 6, 2012. You can find this new document on the NGJA website in the box titled “Latest NGJA News” [direct link for your convenience: http://www.ngja.org/images/stories/2009-2012/NGJA_docs/usag_2009-2012_interps_6-FinalBM.pdf]. As soon as possible, I would recommend that you update your files as we make our final push toward the 2012 Olympic Games.

Regards,
